DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with William by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with William:

The research notes indicate that William m. Margaret, but she is not included in the "husband of" listing at the top of this profile. The "husband of" listing indicates that William m. Ann Clarke. The DAR link indicates that he was married to Margaret. Anne Clarke's research notes indicate that she was the mother of James. Should Margaret be listed in the "husband of" section as the mother of the other three (or one or two of them)? Since Margaret died in 1774 and James was born in 1768, are Margaret and Ann the same person? James born to a different William? James born to an affair?

As soon as I posted this, I found a possible answer:

The Douglas Register, An Index of Goochland Wills. Notes on the French-Hugeunot Refugees in Manakin-Town. Transcribed and Edited by W. MAC. JONES, Published by J. W. Fergusson & Sons. 1928. says:

William Venable & Ann Clark a son named William born Mar: 12 1767. Baptized Jun: 11 1767. p. 77. William Venables & Ann Clark a son named James born Dec: 20 1768. Baptized Ap: 20 1769. p. 84.

The birthday and location of the son William in this reference does not match the birthday of the son William, b. 15 Sep 1760, in Frederick, VA, Therefore the James and Ann Clark in this reference can not be related to the William, b. abt 1736.

Do you concur?

This website has info on Ann Clark and her William Lewis Venable: https://ancestors.familysearch.org/en/L41T-5ZP/ann-clark-1740. This is not my line and therefore, I do not know the validity of this content. But I am fairly confident that she is mismatched to this William Venable.

Hello DA, I also had much confusion trying to sort the Venebles. See the "changes" and we are not alone. Either this William is or is not my sixth gg and your fifth. I was leaving it for the Venable Project to figure out. lol. By the way, welcome to WikiTree, cousin(?)!

Venable-159 and Venable-52 are not ready to be merged because: Needs research & documentation

Venable-159 and Venable-52 appear to represent the same person because: Same parents and siblings, birthdate close. Death date needs research.
