Biography

Louisa Jane (AKA Jane L) was born 9 Jul 1817 in Wythe, Virginia, United States. She was the daughter of John Ward and Jane H Davis. In 1836 she married Hugh Spence, a wealthy landowner with many slaves, with whom she had five known children. She was apparently active socially and an active member of the local Church of Christ. She passed away in 1855 and is buried near where she was born in Wytheville, Virginia.
