David was born about 1819. He is the son of Rees Madison Ward and Elizabeth Bowen. He passed away in 1878. [1]
David married Elizabeth Hayward in 1846, probably in MO. She was born in 1828 in NY and died before 1862, where is unknown. Their children were: Elizabeth born 1844, Luvicy Jane,1848 and Hiram Hayward, 1850.[2] ..After Elizabeth's death David and Nancy Ann Dyer were married on July 31, 1862 in Bourbon Co., KS She was born Oct. 18, 1833 in Clay Co., IN and died in Rose, Woodson Co., KS. Their child was Olive Belle Ward born 9/22/1870 in Bourbon Co., KS.
November 2016, Contributor, Mary McClelland #47081453 while searching for military information on her ancestor, Samuel Clay Simons, brother of Jane Simons Ward and Nancy Simons Ward, she found a couple of documents on the Kansas State Historical Society's website that have Samuel's name and three Ward's, David, Isaac and George W., listed on a muster roll for the 1st Art. of Home Guard of Marmaton, Bourbon County, Kansas, dated May 25, 1861. Samuel Simons, David and Isaac Ward were listed as Privates and George W. Ward was a 3rd Sergeant. These documents were not indexed and are in the Adjutant General's records.
