Samuel Washburn, possibly second son of John Washburn, born in Hempstead, Long Island, NY, in ca. 1709, baptized in Jan. 1729/30 in the Episcopal Church in Newtown, Queens Co., NY,[1] married Abigail Moore, daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth (Sackett) Moore, of Newtown, Long Island,[2] in say ca. 1736. She was born on 10 Nov. 1715 in Newtown, NY,[3] a granddaughter of Samuel and Mary (Reed) Moore, of Newtown.[4] The will of Joseph Moore, dated 11 June 1753, and probated on 14 Aug. 1756 in New York City, mentioned his daughter Abigail Washburn, and grandchildren Elizabeth Washburn and Hannah Washburn.[5]
Samuel Washburn lived in Newtown, Long Island, where he was a weaver.[6] He died on 8 June 1768 in Newtown, Queens Co., NY,[7] but no probate records were filed for his estate in New York.
