Thomas Waterton, Esq., of Walton, Yorkshire, and Corringham, Lincolnshire[1][2]
Born by 1526, Thomas Waterton was the second son of Thomas Waterton and his wife, Joan Tempest.[3][1] His mother had died by 1549 when his father took a second wife, widow Agnes Restwold née Cheyne. Agnes had been married to Edward Restwold of the Vache, Buckinghamshire. Her daughter, Beatrice Restwold, became Thomas' wife some time before 1552. Together they had two sons and three daughters.[3][4]
Thomas first entered Parliament in 1554 as MP for Thirsk, Yorkshire. Said to have been a favourer of the Elizabeth Religious Settlement, he is thought to have been a Catholic at heart.[3]
Thomas died on 5 November 1575,[2] his executors being Beatrice and their son, Thomas.[3]
↑ Richardson lists three sons and three daughters (see Family, above). The History of Parliament Online biography does not name his children, aside from his son Thomas (an executor of his will) and daughter Anne, who married Cotton Gargrave.
