Biography

Flag of Virginia
Thomas Weaver is a Virginian.

Thomas Weaver b. abt 1710 in Halifax, Virginia, [citation needed] son of Samuel Weaver III and Mary (Robinson) Weaver [citation needed]

Disputed Parents

It is said on many genealogy sites (via family trees) that Thomas Weaver was the son of Samuel Weaver and Mary (Robinson) Weaver. No proof has been found to date to support this. Thomas was not listed as one of the six sons in Samuel's will, nor found in records in that location during that era.
There may have been a Thomas Weaver that married an Eleanor Womack somewhere in Virginia. It is highly unlikely, though, that he was the son of Samuel. Additionally, if you look at the many children of Thomas, they appear to be the children that were actually born to Peter Weaver. Several of the sons have military records in Culpeper County that pair with Peter Weaver's circa 1760 probate to support this theory.

Research Notes

Note: Weaver Slave? (Ancestry Image)
The will of Peter Weaver, listed in the William and Mary College Quarterly newsletter (taken from Culpeper County records), was dated 27 March (no year given, but it was after his daughter Elizabeth married in 1760). The will was proved 18 Aug 1763 and mentioned his wife, Elizabeth, and his children: (Silva-1055 20:10, 10 August 2020 (UTC))
  1. John Weaver
  2. Matthias Weaver
  3. Peter Weaver
  4. Barbary (Weaver) Carpenter
  5. Elizabeth (Weaver) Christler

210 Father was dead before birth (Weaver-573,Weaver-592)

This is actually marked for all of his children. Is there a typo in his death date? Let me know if I can help correct this. 😊

The entire profile lacks sourcing so anything that can be done to improve sourcing would be much appreciated Ed.

Jillaine, I have my doubts that this person ever existed. Thomas was not listed as one of Samuel's "six sons." On Ancestry he is listed as dying at the age of one with no source, or marrying an Eleanor Womack and receiving a Civil War pension (which is way out of the realm of possible). I'm sure there was "a" Thomas Weaver somewhere, but I see no proof of him belonging within this family. Should he be detached?

I'm fine with detaching him from his parents, but what about the rest of the family given here?

Was there a wife and children? Did his currently attached wife exist and have children? There's a slew of children attached. Are they all non-existent?

There's a problem with the death date for Thomas. If he died at age 5 he couldn't have married and had 15 children.
