Research Notes

  • 21 Sep 2018: In regard to Joseph Webster (Webster-574), Elizabeth Shotwell (Shotwell-20), and their children (Descendants), to include Elizabeth, Joseph, Mary, Sarah, Rachel, Deborah, Abraham, Susanna, Anne, Martha, and William. Research of Quaker Monthly Meeting of Friends Records has been conducted, along with research into other possible Records (on-line and off-line). The research has, and is still being done, as with any genealogy work, it will always be ongoing. There is Evidence in on-line Quaker Monthly Meeting of Friends Records showing Joseph Webster, Elizabeth Shotwell and their children to be real people, husband, wife, parent, and child. Joseph and Elizabeth have been rejoined to their children, with some on-line Monthly Meeting sources included.
  • 1752 was the year break for Old Style dating to New Style dating.

  • I, Virgil M. Kester III, moved the "Challenge" box that Ormond placed at the top of the biography, and placed in down under Research Notes. Challenge on parents. This individual is one of multiple profiles that were removed as children of the couple, Joseph Webster and Elizabeth Shotwell, this profile has Rachel Webster birth in 1743. No MM birth record seen and documented regarding parents date and location. The marriage of Elizabeth and Joseph is documented late December 1733. With her death occurring first half of 1736. No children or marriages documented for Joseph after 1736.

  • On 17 Aug 2016, 07:39 GMT; Marty Ormond, edited the above "Challenge on parents" into the Biography, and unlinked the parents. In the comments area of the profile he wrote:

Elizabeth Shotwell & Joseph Webster. 6 weeks ago myself and Shotwell Name Study group researched and made this conclusinon: Records show only one husband for Elizabeth, that is Joseph Webster married end of Dec 1734. Her death record is April 17,1736. Married for approx. 27 months. We have no records of any children born to this couple in the Quaker records of Northern NJ. Woodbridge, Rahway, Plainfield or other MM.

Childrens profiles to be impacted: Joseph Webster-574 and Elizabeth Shotwell-20 will not be parents of the following listed profiles

Webster-606 Webster-607 Webster-573 Webster-608 Webster-610 Webster-612 Webster-613 Webster-615 Webster-616

At this point I haven’t seen evidence that the couple of Shotwell-20 and Webster-574 were correct parents of the individuals

If you look on the profiles of Joseph Webster and Elizabeth Shotwell you will find an outline of some of the basic findings about this suggested parent couple.

We aren't challenging the descendants listed with this profile. Just that Shotwell-20 died in early 1736. thus Joseph and Elizabeth aren't likely parents of this individual. We haven't found the specific birth record in the published MM records, for the 9 suggested children.

We would love to unravel the mystery, what is the real correct pedigree on this Webster family.

Regards, Marty

Now that there was another family member merge, I have just discovered I created yet another duplicate, Webster-5384 with Webster-610. They are the same person, I just want to delete the one I made, but it is already linked with many. They need to be merged.
