Lincoln, May 6 --- Mrs. Katherine M. Read, 71, the wife of Carl Read, died Wednesday at a local hospital after a long illness.

Born at Enfield, June 16, 1887, she was the daughter of John and Hannah (Dyer) Welch.

Mrs. Read was a member of the Lincoln Congregational Church, Ivaloo Rebekah Lodge, the Farm Bureau, Mattanawcook Grange and the Historical Society.

Besides her husband, survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Margaret Thompson and Mrs. Hannah Kneeland; one son, John Read; one sister, Mrs. Agnes Read, all of Lincoln; four grandchildren and one great grandchild.
