1757: August 16: Lieut. - Capt. James Whipple, Grafton. Commanded a company belonging to the regiment whereof Artemas Ward, Esq. that marched to Fort William Henry, but previous to this date the fort had surrendered and many had fallen victims to the cruelty and treachery of the enemy. [2]

Marriage
He married Elizabeth Hall on June 14, 1763. She was born there on November 28, 1740, daughter of Jonathan and Thankful (Taylor) Hall. [1][2]
James died on July 28, 1808. [1][2] He is buried with Elizabeth in the Old Oak Street Burial Ground at Grafton. His inscription reads: SACRED To the Memory of Lieu. JAMES WHIPPLE who died July 28 1808 AEt. 70[4]
