Biography

Samuel White, son of Resolved White, was born in Scituate, Plymouth Colony, 13 Mar 1646 and bapt. 15 Mar 1645 indicating the year was probably 1645/6. The mother of Samuel was Judith Vassal, wife of Resolved.[1][2]

"Samuel White senr and his wife ware born in march about ye 13 in ye year 1646:taken from his owne Reccord with ye births of his children."[3]

Samuel married Rebecca ____, who was b. about 13 Mar 1646. Rebecca died at Rochester, Massachusetts, 25 June 1711 in her 65th year. [2] His wife was not Rebecca Lapham.[2]

Samuel lived in Sandwich by 20 May 1667, on which date Maj. Josiah Winslow of Marshfield (half brother of Samuel's father) deeded land "for love and good will to my kinsman Samuel White now of Sandwich."[2][4] 8 Jun 1671, while still in Sandwich, he and Rebecca, his wife, deeded land to Benjamin Church. They acknowledged this deed 8 June 1677.[2][5]

He was listed as a proprietor of Rochester, Massachusetts, in 1679, on the freeman's list in 1684 and was selectman in 1690.[6]

17 July 1697 Samuel White Senr of Rochester deeded 20 acres of upland in Rochester to his son Melatiah, also of Rochester.[7]

He was brought before the court for not attending public worship, Sep 1720, March 1723/4, Dec 1729 and Mar 1729/30.[2][8]

White-14447 and White-2854 appear to represent the same person because: I feel quite certain that there was only one Samuel White born in Scituate in 1645/6. He would have to have been the son of one of two persons. Peregrine is out leaving Resolved. There is no point in leaving the unsourced profile hanging out here.

Can you check your records? The death information on this profile is suspect as the place did not/does not exist.

Rec'd a private message from a user regarding this entry: Doing some cross-checking on the descendants of Resolved White against what is stated in WikiTree and what is stated in Volume 13 of the Mayflower Families book for William White. It appears there are some oversights that need correcting in the wives stated for Samuel White (White-2854), of which you are listed as a profile manager. WikiTree has 2 entries for Rebecca Lapham as his wife- Lapham 5 and Lapham 212. Mayflower states that Samuel White married Rebecca (unknown), born ca. 13 March 1646, died Rochester 25 June 1711 in her 65th year. Mayflower also states that the wife of Samuel White was not Rebecca Lapham and cites TAG and NEHGR sources.
