Biography

Francis Marion Whitfield was born 17 January 1835 in Hopkins County, Kentucky.[1][2] [3] He was the son of Bryant Whitfield and Ceney (Graddy) Whitfield. His maternal grandparents were Joseph Whitfield and Mary Graddy and paternal grandparents were Lewis Graddy and Theresa "Treecy" Bailey.

In 1850, Francis, age 15, was recorded in the U.S. Census, living and farming in Hopkins County with his parents and siblings. Census attached. [1]

He married Isabella Berry on 30 January 1856 in Hopkins County, Kentucky.[4] They had seven known daughters, Enola, Laura, Henryetta, Dollie, Mary A "Mollie", Lenora and Cenia Whitfield.

After the death of Isabella, Francis was remarried 8 October 1878 in Hopkins County to Leah A. Bone. [5] They had a daughter Sarah Isabella Whitfield.

In 1880, Francis M Whitfield, age 45, Physician, lived in Mortons Gap, Hopkins, Kentucky with wife Leah and children.[2]

In 1900, Francis, age 65, Physician, lived in Milam County, Texas with wife Leah (age 54) and grandson Emmett Davis (age 18). [3]

Francis was a Physician, (an Allopath). [6]

Dr. Francis Marion Whitfield died, age 79, in San Gabriel, Milam, Texas on 24 December 1914 and was buried in Locklin Cemetery, San Gabriel, Milam County, Texas. [7]
