Biography

Born: Lidia Williams, the daughter of Robertson Williams and Elizabeth, was born in East Haddam, Connecticut, on February 23, 1750. [1]

1827 Deed In Rensselaer County Arising from Jonathan Devereaux' Estate:

By Instrument dated April 17, 1827, Seymour Devereaux; Elijah Devereaux; and Epaphroditus Devereaux and his wife Mitty, assigned several leases from Stephen Van Rensselaer to "our lfather Jonathan Devereaux, Junior", including a September 7, 1790 lease of 70 ac; a February 17, 1794 lease of 60 acres, and any other leases or rights "our father Jonathan Devereaux, died seized or possessed", whether real of personal, to Stephen Devereaux of Nassau, Rensselaer, New York, subject to a one-third interest in land owned and occupied by "our mother Lydia Devereaux".[2]

1829 Inqusition for Taking of Land for Nassau Turnpike: The "Widow Deverix" was a party to a condemnation proceeding held on August 26, 1829 in Troy, Rensselaer, New York arising out of the acquisition of land for the construction of the Nassau Turnpike. She was awarded 6 cents for 15 chains of land in length and 4 rods in with on property in the Town of Nassau.[3]

None of the ancestry of Lydia Williams has been independently verified.
"I still haven't found documentation to prove that Lydia is the daughter of Robinson and Elizabeth Hurd Williams, but there is very strong evidence. Elizabeth was a 5th generation descendant of Thomas Rogers who was a passenger on the Mayflower and there are some who say that Robinson was a direct descendant of John Robinson who was a pastor of the pilgrims while they were in Leiden, Holland."
