Biography

Isaac Williams was born at Roxbury, Massachusetts Bay Colony, 1 Sep 1638. He was the first child of Robert Williams and Elizabeth Stalham to be born in New England.[1] He was baptized at Roxbury 21 Sep 1638. The Rev. John Eliot in his records shows that Isaac was confirmed 21 Nov 1658 ("21.9M.1658" - BRr2, p.82).

Isaac was a weaver and Deacon. He married at Newton, Mass., Martha Parke, before 1660. Martha was born 2 Mar 1641/42, and died at Newton, 24 Oct 1675, where they had moved immediately after their marriage, settling on 500 acres purchased by her father from Major Samuel Shepard.[1]

Isaac married second, Judith (Hunt) Cooper of Taunton on 13 Nov 1677. Judith was the daughter of Peter and Elizabeth (Smith) Hunt of Rehoboth, and widow of Nathaniel, son of Thomas Cooper, by whom she had had three children. Judith died in 1724.[1]

Children of Isaac Williams and Martha Parke

Isaac and Martha had nine children.[1]:

  1. Isaac, b. and d. 7 Mar 1661
  2. Isaac, b. 11 Dec 1661
  3. Martha, b. 27 Dec 1663
  4. William, b. 2 Feb 1665
  5. John, b. 31 Oct 1667
  6. Eleazar, b. 22 Oct 1669
  7. Hannah, b. 8 Oct 1671, married (2d wife) John, son of Job and Elizabeth (Fuller) Hyde of Newton, born February 1, (Bond), Dec. 1, (Jackson), 1681-2; died before 1739; she d. 8. p. April 28, 1739
  8. Elizabeth3 b. Oct. 8, 1671 (twin)
  9. Thomas, born Dec. 23, 1673. Jackson says that he sold, 1708, his part of his father's estate but East Cambridge records do not show this to be a fact. As he did not join in the protest to his father's will, and as he is not mentioned in it, he probably died before his father. There was, however, a Thomas Williams at Newton, later, who by wife Lydia (Child) had a daughter Lydia, b. July 22, 1754. It may have been his son.

Children of Isaac Williams and Judith Hunt Cooper

Isaac and Judith had four children.[1]

  1. Peter, 31 Aug 1680; d. unmarried, 1732
  2. Sarah, b. 2 Oct 1688
  3. Mary, b. 2Oct 1688 (twin)
  4. Ephraim, b. 21 Oct 1691

Isaac headed the first school of Cambridge in 1706. He passed away 11 Feb 1708 in his 69th year.[2]

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Isaac by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Isaac:
