Biography
James was born about 1789.
On his son James' marriage certificate, James is listed as a Butcher. [1]
The biography of son James notes that he went to Australia with his grandson, so perhaps he died there.
He passed away about 1850.
Research Notes and Observations
A James William Williams was baptised in the City of London in 1789 by parents James William and Maria.
In 1817 James Williams married Martha Weaver in Bristol. The couple baptised John Williams. Although son James William's death record mentioned his mother as Mary, perhaps his surviving relative was unsure of her fist name. There appears to be no James and Mary Williams baptising children in Bristol at this time.
On 19 August 1821 a James William Williams was baptised aged 3 weeks in Bristol by James and Martha. James was a Labourer. [2]
James' marriage record shows father James was a Butcher.
There is a death record for James Williams aged 62 (born 1789) in Bristol in 1851. [3] However James Williams was a very common name. 7 people with the name James Williams died in Bristol between 1848 and 1853. Bristol also has 4 registration areas, Clifton, Barton Regis and Bedminster as well as Bristol City.
