Biography

While primary sources are elusive, it appears that Elizabeth Wilson was born on November 26, 1739[1] and married Luke Lea on May 4, 1759, in Orange County, North Carolina.[2]

Elizabeth "Beautiful Bet" Wilson, may have been the daughter of William Wilson of Orange County (now part of Caswell County), North Carolina, "as he is the only Wilson in the 1755 tax list nearby [and a] grandson of Luke Lea was named William Wilson Lea".[2] Two entries in U.S. and International Marriage Records, 1560-1900 report her as having been born in North Carolina;[3] [4] one reports her as having been born in Louisiana.[5] She was certainly not the daughter of Zaccheus Wilson who names no such child in his will.

According to the Caswell County Historical Association[2]:

On 26 December 1791, Luke Lea was granted 150 acres in Hawkins County on the north side of the Holston River (Book 75, Page 160, #108, Grant #142, North Carolina).

In 1791, on admission of Tennessee as a state, Luke and Elizabeth Lea's property became a part of Grainger County, Tennessee. They called their home "Lea's Spring." Elizabeth died shortly after, and was buried near their Lea's Spring home.

Following on from Jessica's observation below, I have detached her from her erroneous parents. As far as I can see, pending further research her ancestry is unknown.
There is no daughter Elizabeth named in Zaccheus WILSON's will. That being so, I must consider that paternity highly-suspect.

Given that Rachel (Pritlowe) Wilson is shown as having died in 1727, which is before Elizabeth was born, I am removing her and her husband as parents. This should facilitate a future merge.
