Jesse M. died in a prisoner of war camp in Illinois in 1864; William E. and his brother James were both killed in the Battle of Fishing Creek (aka Battle of Logan's Cross Roads or Battle of Mill Springs), Pulaski County, KY in 1862; Riley was killed in Georgia in 1864. John A. Womack came home. He later erected a monument to his four brothers at Shiloh Cemetery, Yalobusha County, Mississippi.
He passed away in March 1863 in Yalobusha County, Mississippi and is buried in Shiloh Cemetery, Yalobusha County. Both Asa and Sarah died in 1863 before the war ended. They may have known of the deaths of two of their sons, William and James, before they died.
