Robert Wood was the son of Joseph Wood and Francina Herman. He was born circa 1687 at Cecil County, Maryland. Many birth records cite "Bohemia Manor" as his birthplace. Bohemia Manor was the large estate of his maternal grandfather, Augustine Herman. Robert Wood's mother, Francina, inherited a small farm when Augustine Herman died in 1686, just one year before Robert Wood's estimated birth.
Robert Wood was married to Catherine Rumsey, circa 1708. The couple had several children before his death in July of 1721. [1] Here is a copy of Robert Wood's will:

Robert Wood predeceased his father by five months. The children of Robert and Catherine Wood are not provided for in the December of 1721 will of Joseph Wood.
The small farm called "Fortune" that Robert and Catherine Wood had been living on at the time of his death in 1721 had been leased from a cousin, Ephraim Augustine Herman, the Lord of their grandfather's huge estate.[2] So, although the will of Robert Wood provided for his family with this land, it was not really his to bequeath. Catherine Wood pleaded with Ephraim Augustine Herman to allow her and the children to continue living there after the death of Robert Wood. He did agree to lease the land to his deceased cousin's widow and their children. Here is a copy of the Cecil County Maryland Land Record:
