Biography

Captain Samuel Wright Jr. was the son of Sergeant Samuel Wright & Rebecca Crafts.[1] He was born 06 JAN 1693[2] and married Abigail Goodrich on 02 JAN 1717/18.[3] They were the parents of five children. Their youngest child, Moses Wright, was born on 3 Jul 1731.

Samuel was Constable in 1691 and Selectman in 1704.[4]

Samuel was the Captain and part owner of a Sloop that travelled between New London, CT and Barbados, West Indies. Capt. Wright died at sea in 1732. His estate was sizeable and the inventory contained "rum, sugar, negro and indian slaves."[5] In 1741, Abigail married Noadiah Dickinson, who raised her two youngest children.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Samuel by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Samuel:

Wright-10045 and Wright-9378 appear to represent the same person because: Both represent the Samuel Wright who was husband of Abigail Goodrich and father of Lucy Wright who died in Shoreham VT.
