Jane Yeager (1826-1916); 13th child of John Yeager & Mary Green. Born 4 Oct 1827, Saltfleet Twp, Wentworth County (Ontario)
About 1845 Jane married LEWIS LIPSIT (1821-1872)
At first the couple lived with Jane's parents at Saltfleeet. In 1859 Lewis bought a 100 acre farm east of Mount Bridges (Caradoc Twp, Middlesex Co.). They were Weslyan Methodists. Lewis died at Caradoc on 25 Sept 1872, leaving Jane with a large family, some quite young.
Jane succeeding in raising her brood with the help of the older children, each of whom was expected to go out and learn a trade early on. In 1878, Jane deeded the east half of the farm to son, Lewis who gave her a life lease on the property. In 1886 she deeded the west half to son-in-law Furlow Coates (husband of Mary Elizabeth).
In all she was the matriarch of 13 children, 41 grandchildren, and 30 great-grandchildren at the time.
Jane died at Caradoc, 13 Aug 1916, and was buried in Mount Brydes Cemetery with her husband.
