Biography

Dolly (Yockey) Weiser was born on January 8, 1824 in Franklin, Pennsylvania, United States. Her father was George Yockey, probably born about 1800.

Dolly married Daniel S. Weiser (1819 - 1878) on June 11, 1840 in Scotio, Delaware, Ohio. [1]

Their children were:

  1. Mary E Weiser (1842 - )
  2. Solomon Rueben Weiser (1843 - 1922)
  3. Emily Weiser (1847 - )
  4. Charles Switzer Weiser (~1850 - 1926)
  5. George Aandren Weiser (1854 - 1856).

Dolly died on November 1, 1858 in Mount Carroll, Carroll, Illinois, United States aged 34 and was buried in the same place.

HUSBAND: 1850 US Federal Census. Daniel S. Weiser listed as head of household in 1850 US Federal Census, Delaware City, Delaware Co, Ohio page 174, age 28. Name misspelled WEISNER. Daniel is listed as a mason with 500 value of real estate enumerated 1 Aug 1950 with the following additional members of the household: Dolly 26 female; Mary E. 8 female; Solomon 6 male; Emily 3 female' Ellen B. Evans 20. All listed as born in Pennsylvania. 1850 US Federal Census. Daniel S. Weiser listed as head of household in 1850 US Federal Census, Delaware City, Delaware Co, Ohio page 174, age 28. Name misspelled WEISNER. Daniel is listed as a mason with 500 value of real estate enumerated 1 A [2]

  • Parents: Pre-2021 parents were said to be circus performers. She left her husband and children and the children were then raised by their paternal grandparents. It is said that Dolly's parents bought a circus and settled in the Chicago, Illinois, area, but this has not been confirmed.
  • Surname The original family surname may be Yohe, which is a well-known name among the Amish/Mennonites in Pennsylvania. This could be another avenue to explore.
