The 121st Whiteleather Reunion of the descendants of Andrew and Mary Zentz Whiteleather met Sunday afternoon, Aug. 12 at the West Community Center at East Rochester.

Andrew Whiteleather was born about 1757 in Baunschweig, Germany
He came to America about February, 1775, and landed in Baltilmore, MD
under the auspices of the British to help fight the colonists. He was then a young man of 19.
He settled near Manchester, MD where he worked at his trade as a shoemaker. He was married to Mary Zentz and later came to KnoxTwp.Columbiana Co.OH where he bought 320 acres of land in section 24, range 5,Twp 17 where the village of North Georgetown now stands. He also bought a tract of 320 acres in Sec 22 in the same township, for which he paid $1.25 per acre. This was in the year 1804. He returned to Maryland and remained until 1806 when he moved to Ohio in covered wagons.

The Whiteleathers settled in Knox Twp, Columbiana Co. after Peter's grandfather, Andrew Whiteleather (Andreas Weissleder) purchased government land in 1804. He moved his family here the following year and acquired more land, The Whiteleather family were instrumental in laying out the village of North Georgetown, where the family lived for many years.
