About Henry Adams
"Gentleman" Henry Adams (1582-1646), a farmer and maltster, was descended from English yeomen who had lived in Barton St. David for centuries.
In 1609, he married Edith Squire in England in 1609. In the 1630s he emigrated to America with his family, arriving in Boston, MA and, after receiving a grant of land on "the Mount" by the town authorities, settled in the area later called Braintree, Massachusetts.
Via his son Joseph, Henry was the paternal great-great grandfather of John Adams Jr., second president of the United States.
Via his son Edward, Henry also was an ancestor to Flora Darling nee Adams, one of the founders of the Daughters of the American Revolution in the late 19th century.
