Biography

Mary Ann Arb was born in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania , on December 1st, 1829 and was married to Jacob Arb, on November 30, 1848. They moved to Kansas and settled on this reservation about 17 years ago, where she has lived ever since, until August 17th 1886, when she departed this life to move to a reservation without so many changes and trials as this one had during its early settlement. At the age of 15 years she became a member of the Lutheran church, and after coming to Kansas connected herself with the M. E. church where she proved herself to be a most consistent Christian until death. Her life was one industrious, hard toil, the hardships of frontier life and the responsibility of a large family, she bore with Christian patience. She was a kind and affectionate wife and mother. She leaves her husband, seven sons and three daughters, two sisters and two brothers to mourn their loss. [1]
