I don't know a lot about Ella McAstocker other than she was the wife my Great Uncle Chester McAstocker. They lived in British Columbia where Chester was a railroad man with the Canadian Pacific. Chester was taken from her too early in life when he was killed in a railroad accident near Penticton in 1966. I don't have the particulars of this picture but it's a great shot to be sure. She is definitely someone I would have liked to meet!

I received some information regarding this picture from a cousin of mine and the grand daughter of Ella McAstocker.

"The picture was taken about 1927 in Osoyoos BC. She was about 13. One of the saddles in the picture is housed in a heritage site near Vernon called the O’Keefe Ranch.

My Grandma [Ella] was an excellent rider and always talked about her house named Dixie. I think it is one in the picture, not sure which one. She won many ribbons at Jumping events.
