Biography

PLEASE DO NOT ADD ANOTHER WIFE TO AUGUSTINE HUNNICUTT EITHER BEFORE OR AFTER MARY CARTER. THERE IS NO PROOF HE HAD ANOTHER WIFE.

Augustine Hunnicutt was born about 1662 in Surry County Virginia. He died between March 8 ,1708 and May 2, 1710 in Surry County Virginia. Born to Augustine Hunnicutt and Mary Carter. Augustine married a woman named Margaret. Her last name at birth is unproven at this time , but possibly it was Phillips. Margaret 's first husband was John Cooper. Their daughter Elizabeth married Edward Rowells , their son was Richard Rowells. Margaret then married John Hodge. Her step son James Hodge died young and had no issue. Margaret 's step daughter Mary Hodge married Bray Hargrove (Hargrave). Augustine and Margaret 's children were Katherine Hunnicutt who married Charles Pitt and Ann who married Augustine Berryman. Honeycutt-1492 and Hunnicutt-89 appear to represent the same person because: Please merge. They have the same parents. Augustine would have the sur Name spelled Hunnicutt.

His father was listeed with one tithable on 10 Jun 1674, implying Augustine II turned 16 between then and 10 June 1675.

I believe Augustine II must have been born by 1659, not 1662, because he first appears on the Surry County tithables at Lawnes' Creek on 10 Jun 1675. "At Austin Hunnicutts his Sonn Austin Hunnicutt; Chs: Denisen" is listed for two tithes. The two tithes would have been Austin II and Charles, becuase Austin I was over 50 and exempt. One had to be at least 16 years old to be listed as a tithable, so Austin II was born by 1659, it appears.

Hunnicutt-205 and Hunnicutt-89 appear to represent the same person because: They are the same person . I am currently sourcing Hunnicutt-89. I am waiting for merges on Mary Hargrave and Bray Hargrave to come to approval. To complete.

This Augustine Hunnicutt already has a profile on wikitree. I will be detaching Mary Hunnicutt Hargrave from the Augustine Hunnicutt who is currently listed as her father , as he was her step father. She was the daughter of Margaret and John Hodge. And proposing a merge between the Augustine Hunnicutts . There is no valid documentation that Augustine was married to Margaret Phillips.
