Biography

Frank Vale Abbott was born on 8 Feb 1886 in Upper Norwood, (Lambeth), Surrey, (London), England.[1][2] He attended Woodland Road School and later St James National School at Gravesend, England.

He emigrated to Canada in 24 September 1909.[3] He entered theological studies at Wycliffe College, part of the University of Toronto. He led his first church servie in the Anglican Church at Lloydtown on Easter Day 1811. He was ordained a Deacon in 1913, and an Anglican minister in June 1914, and was assigned to the parish of Grouard, in northern Alberta.[1]

In the 1911 Canada census, Frank Abbott (25) was living in Red Deer, Alberta. He was a theological student.[4]

Frank married Margaret (Marjorie) Agnes Laycock on 20 July 1914 in Christ Church, Shaftesbury, Alberta.[5] They had 6 children.[1]

In the course of his responsibilities as an Anglican minister, they moved to Smithers, British Columbia, to Morpeth, Ontario, to Toronto, Ontario, to Ivy, Ontario, and finally to Schomberg, Ontario.[1]

In the 1931 Canada census, Rev. Frank Abbott (age 45) was living in Essa, Ontario, with wife Margaret (44), and children Kathleen (15), Edwin (14), Harold (12), Margaret (10) and Helen (3).[6]

In 1952, he was called to Wycliffe College and was given an Honorary Degree of Doctor of Divinity for having rendered so many years of faithful service to the rural Church in Canada.

Marjorie passed away in 1958. Frank subsequently married Jerrine Wills Kinton in Oct 1963.[1]

Frank died on Feb 21 1975 in Schomberg, Ontario, Canada.[1]
