Biography

Joseph Abbott was born in Andover 16 August 1674.^[1][2]

He married Sarah Devereux of Marblehead about 1700. She was administratrix of her father's estate 13 January 1701/02.^[3]

15 May 1714, John Dixey of Marblehead, fisherman, and Anne his wife, one of the daughters of John Devereaux Jr., late of Marblehead, and Susanna Dennis, attorney to her husband Jonas Dennis and another daughter of said Devereaux, sell to their brother and sister Joseph Abbott and Sarah Abbot of Marblehead their share and proportion, which is two-thirds, of and into those lots, tracts or parcels of lands and meadows laid out or to be laid out in the township of Dunstable, being a thirty acre grant lot or right of said Devereaux whereof about five hundred acres being part thereof was formerly laid out; together with part of another thirty acre lot granted to John Devereaux, Sr., father of the aforenamed John Devereaux, Jr.; also all that moiety or half part or share of thirty acres of meadow formerly laid out to said John Devereaux and his father, which thirty acres remains yet undivided amongst them.^[10]

28 June 1714, John Abbot and Sarah his wife, sell the above lands to Samuel Brown of Salem, esquire.^[10]

18 January 1721/22, Joseph Abbot of Marblehead, house carpenter, quits claim to his brother Thomas Abbot of Andover, husbandman, all his right, title, etc., of or in the estate of their father Thomas Abbot of Andover, deceased.^[11]
