Biography

Marian was the eldest daughter of Harry Hayes Abell l Abell-746 and Margaret Ellen (Carroll) Abell, born on 5 Mar 1906 in Compton, Lee County Illinois. Compton was a village in Brooklyn Township, and her father delivered mail for the U.S. Postal Service on a rural route in that area. The U.S. Census of 1920 found the Abell family in Amboy, Lee County, Illinois, living next door to Marian's maternal grandparents, James and Anna MacHale Carroll. Her father had resumed his carpentry trade and worked as a contractor. A sister and three brothers had been born by then, Anna Berneice, Roland, Orville, and Carroll.

The family moved shortly thereafter to Aurora, Kane County, Illinois, where Marian's youngest sibling, John, was born in April. At the age of 19, Marian and Narcisse E. Piron l Piron-26 were married on 15 April 1925 in Aurora. Their son Narcisse Edwin Piron l Piron-49 was born later that year.

By 1930, the Pirons owned a house on Pearl St. in Aurora, and a daughter, Mary Jean had been born in 1928. Daughters Joyce and Kathleen arrived in the early 1930's before their brother Narcisse died at the age of 9 due from a ruptured appendix on 13 Oct 1934.

The Pirons remained at the same address, and by 1940, Marian's sister "Bee" and her young family lived around the corner on Parker Avenue. Marian's brother Roland and his family, and her parents, also lived within blocks. The Pirons had two more daughters when husband Narcisse died at the age of 40 on 18 Oct 1946.

Marian and her children remained in their home, supported by jobs she and daughter Joyce held as retail clerks, as recorded in the U.S. Census of 1950.
