In tracing pre-1900's Appalachian KY/TN/VA/WV ancestry, I've found that one will very often be stonewalled in that pursuit due to the economic conditions of those early eras; the combining or integration of families because of abandonment or death; illiteracy; abbreviated, mispronounced or misspelled names; missing or destroyed family records (bibles, diaries, certificates, etc.), and because of inadequate or missing federal, state, and locality/district records.
I hope to assist in the growing of this collaborative tree through the discovery and contribution of accurate, traceable information, both, for my own knowledge, and for the knowledge and sense of identity and belonging that it may impart to future descendents.
We're growing a worldwide family tree. If you'd like to help us, please click the volunteer link and leave a message letting us know.
Feel free to ask a question at G2G forum.
