Biography

John Henry Achey was born in July 1869 in Illinois. He died in 1923 in Indiana. [1]

Son of Joseph C Achey (1825–1880) and Rhoda Jane Denise (1836–1897).

1870 United States Census, Geneseo, Henry, Illinois: Joseph C. Achey is head of household a house painter, age 45, with wife Rhoda J. Achey age 32, and children Frank age 16, Mariah age 13, Ida age 8, Joseph age 3, John age 1, and Elizabeth age 8.

1880 United States Census, Henry, Henry, Indiana: Rhoda Achey is a widow age 43, with children Frank, a farmer age 26, Mariah age 22, Ida age 17, Joseph age 12, John age 10, and son Edda age 8.

John Henry Achey married Leora Margaret Cranfill on July 15, 1902 in Anderson, Madison, Indiana.

Children:

  1. Arthur Cranfill Achey (1903-1987).

1920 United States Census, Anderson, Madison, Indiana: John H. Achey is head of household, a painter contractor, age 50, with wife Leora Achey, a bookkeeper for a florist, age 40, and son Arthur C. Achey age 16.
