Biography

STANLEY, TRAVANNIA E. ACRES

Travannia E. Acres Stanley, 65, of Stanley Street, Oneida, passed away Friday morning, June 24, 1983, at her home, following a lingering illness. She was the daughter of the late John Acres and the late Polly Maryline West Acres and was also preceded in death by her husband, Thomas C. Stanley; one son, J. C. Stanley; and three brothers: Millard, Kenneth, and Jennings Acres. She was a member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church. Mrs. Stanley is survived by two daughters: Mrs. Gary (Alice) Welch and Mrs. Floyd (Mary Ann) Brewster, both of Oneida; one son, Jim Stanley of Yorktown, Ind.; ten sisters: Mrs. Sherman (Mona) Laxton, Mrs. Alvin (Gustavia) Laxton, and Mossie Reed, all of Oneida, Izella Sexton of Bowling Green, Ky., Martha Shula of Vancouver, Wash., Mrs. Chester (Oma) Sexton of Oneida, Mrs. Marlin (Edith) Profitt of Indianapolis, Ind., Wilma Stanfield of Cincinnati, O., and Mrs. Buster (Brenda) Bauswell of Knoxville and Mrs. Charles (Shirley) Gilliuam of Gas City, Ind.; one brother, Elvin Acres of Greefield, Ind.; 11 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m. Sunday, June 26, at the West-Murley Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Roy Blevins officiating. The Bethlehem Baptist Church Choir sang. Burial followed in the Coffey Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Ray Byrd, Paul Crabtree, Ken Hughett, Kenny Phillips, Lewis Sexton, and Charles Michael Welch. West-Murley Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.[1]
