Jonathan was the son of Quakers, Joseph Adams and Mary Wright, born on New Years Day in 1800 in Frederick Co, VA. He moved to Highland Co, OH ca 1826, joining his parents, siblings and many neighbors from Virginia who had already moved to Ohio. Encyclopedia of American Quaker Genealogy V5:451 shows that on Sept 7 1826 Jonathan Adams transfers membership from Hopewell to Fairfield OH MM (Quaker membership). Apparently he returned to Virginia to marry Anna Maria Hamilton on 14 Apr 1831 and bring her back to Ohio--perhaps to Warren County. After Jonathan's death on 2 Oct 1839, his widow returned with her family to Frederick Co where she died in the 1870s.
