Lieut. Col. James Adams served in the United States Civil War.

An article in November 1912 edition of Confederate Veteran Magazine provides considerable detail about family and military service. Located via Confederatevets.com[1] Informative obituary in April 1918 edition of Confederate Veterans Magazine [2]

Residence 1850: Wake County, North Carolina as DT, male age 10 in household of James Adams (45) with E Adams (42), D C Adams (male, 20), MW Adams (female, 18), AA Adams (female, 15), S A Adams (female, 8), B Avery (male, 6), C Page (male 19), A Page (male 18). Viewing the image of the census page, one could make the case for a "J T" Adams age 10 (line 20). [3]

Residence 1860: Southern Division, Wake County, North Carolina as Theophilus Adams (20) in household of James Adams (55) with Elizabeth Adams (53), Civil Adams (18) and Bryant Adams (17).[4]

Joined 26th Regiment, 26th Infantry in 1861; wounded at Malvern Hill and Gettysburg; present with regiment at Appomattox.[5]

Marriage: 1863 to Lucy Ann Beckwith; Perquimans County Record [6] and Wake County License: [7]

Residence 1870: Buckhorn Township, Wake County, North Carolina as head of household James T Adams (30) with Lucy Ann Adams (25), Anna Lee Adams (3), Remilus M Adams (2) and Wailon Adams (5 months). [8]
