Biography

Katherine suffered considerably during her young life with ear aches, which stayed with her for many years. She started to school at the Hoffine School but at the age of 10 she went to live with her sister, Mary Jane Glover at North Branch, KA where she finished her education.

She married Jacob E. Phillips at Washington, KA on October 1, 1894.

Jacob E. Phillips was born about 1874. His parents operated a cattle ranch which adjoined the Adams farm. He was musically inclined and became a very proficient snare drummer. Jake was a very intelligent man.

After their marriage, Jacob took a job as a farm hand in Kansas. THey later moved to El Reno, OK where he again worked on a farm. They moved to Guthrie, OK in 1898 where he worked in a wholesale house. In 1904 they left Oklahoma and moved to North Branch, KA.

While in North Branch, Katherine had a very severe attack of fever and had to be moved to Loveland, CO where she recovered.

While in Loveland, Jacob worked with the Bales Construction Company.

In 1908 they moved to Napa, CA. Jake did some carpentry work during the rebuilding of San Francisco after the earthquake.

He worked for a theater several years until he died of a heart attack on July 23, 1924.

They are both buried at Napa, CA
