Lewis Gilbert died in 1835. After his death, David Kimball and Abner Gilbert of South Leverett gave oath that Lewis Gilbert had died at Leverett on 2 January 1835; that he was a Revolutionary Pensioner of the United States of America, pension certificate 21,485; and that Naomi Gilbert was his widow.^[5] As his widow, she would have been entitled to a widow's pension.
