She was born in April 1839 in AL and died 08 May 1917 in Andalusia. The mother of Magnolia “Maggie” Hicks Merritt buried in Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery in Pike Co., AL, Clara was first married to William C Hicks on 23 Dec 1858 in Montgomery Co., AL. By 1868 she had bore three children by William C Hicks: Virgil D, Willie C., and Magnolia “Maggie. On 04 Jan 1897 in Brundidge, Pike Co., AL she was married to her second husband, George W Barker, who is buried in Clay Hill Methodist Church Cemetery in Pike Co., AL.
