NEWS Jean Adams Pirie August 28, 1993
Jean Adams Pirie, 85, formerly of Winnetka, died Wednesday in Carmel, Calif., where she had lived for the last 15 years. Mrs. Pirie was an operatic soprano who formerly sang on Chicago radio. She was the widow of Samuel Carson Pirie Jr., grandson of one of the founders of Carson Pirie Scott & Co. Mrs. Pirie was a member of the board of Grant Hospital in Chicago. She is survived by three daughters, Jean White, Margaret Warren and Heather Arenchild; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Daughter of Edward Martin Adams and Adelia Almira Kester Adams. Interment services for Jean Adams Pirie, 85, wife of the late Samuel Carson Pirie Jr., were held Monday at Memorial Park in Skokie. She died Aug. 25 in Carmel, Calif.
Mrs. Pirie was born in Harvey and was a graduate of Bennett College in New York. She was a professional singer who appeared often on Chicago radio in the late 1920s.
