Biography

Hugh Adams son of James Adams and his wife, Catherine Colquhoun was born in Gateshead in County Durham on the 14th of April 1820 and was baptised on the 7th of May. [1] By 1841 he was working in a foundry as a moulder and living in lodgings at Bells Yard off the High street. [2]

In 1845 he married Jane Bell, daughter of William Bell. The marriage was registered in Newcastle upon Tyne. [3] They lived for a while in Newcastle but by 1851 they were back in Gateshead. [4]

Hugh died in 1858 aged 38. His death was registered in Newcastle. [5]
