Carolyn was known as Mountain Girl, one of the Merry Pranksters, figuring prominently in Tom Wolfe's book "The Electric Kool Aid Acid Test."
She had a daughter, Sunshine, with married author Ken Kesey, and later married another Merry Prankster named George Walker in 1966 as her first husband. They separated in December of that year, but were not divorced until 1978.
Carolyn and Jerry Garcia of the Grateful Dead had two daughters before they were married in 1981.
