Biography
Eliza was born in 1836, to parents John and Susan Adams, and baptised on the 8th of May 1836 in Elmswell, Suffolk.[1]
In 1841[2] Eliza lived with her parents in Elmswell, with siblings Robert, Maryann, Harriett, Sarahann, Susannah, John and George.Father John was an agricultural labourer.
In 1851[3] the family still lived in Elmswell, with resident siblings Harriett, John, George, Jane, and Susan. Eliza's father John was a coal porter.
In 1858, Eliza Adams married John Clarke, in Tendring district Essex. [4] Daughter Elizabeth was born in 1859 in Dovercourt, Tendring District, Essex.[5]
In 1861[6] the family were living near the Green in Tostock, Suffolk, with children Elizabeth and John C. John was an agricultural labourer. John, Eliza and John C were all ecorded as born in Tostock, with only Elizabeth being born in Dovercourt.
In 1871[7] the family were living in Norton(?) Road Tostock, with additional children George, Charles, Emma and Jane. This time Eliza was recorded as having been born in Elmswell.
In 1881[8] the family were living in Church Road Cottage Tostock, with children George, Charles, Emma, Jane, and William. John and sons George and Charles were agricultural labourers. Living nearby were a Charles and Eliza Clark aged 52 and 53, with their children Louisa, George, and Emily. Charles was a gardener.
Eliza died in 1885, and was buried in St Andrews Tostock, on the 28th of November.[9]
