Biography

Andrew was born on 16 November 1886 at 146 Main Street, Bridgeton. His father, William was the informant of the birth and was able to sign his name.

Andrew married twice.

At the age of 21 and a colliery driver, and after publication according to the forms of the United Free Church, he married 19 year old Mary Blair, on 2 November 1906 at 125 Main Street, Bridgeton. His parents, William and Esther, and her’s, Robert Blair, engine fitter and Annie Blair (ms Dewar) were alive at the time.

The register of Andrew and Mary Blair’s marriage was later endorsed “Divorced” by the registrar.

At the age of 26, and now a sewing machine mechanic, living at 6 Montieth Street, Glasgow, he married Elizabeth Thomson, aged 24, spinster of 118 Waddell Street, on 18 July 1913.

(It states on his marriage certificate that Andrew was ‘formerly married’ but it doesn’t show details of his previous wife, Mary Blair.)
