Research Notes

  • Did Robert and Mourning Adams have two daughters named ANNE - one born in 1712 and the other born about 1725? Is Anne the Younger the one born in 1725. Why is Anne born in 1712 not mentioned in her father's will? Did she die before him?
  • Robert Adams had several land records, located at the Virginia State Library in Richmond, indicate he owned many acres in Virginia, the earliest purchase from about 1717. Most of this land is mentioned in his Will. He possibly obtained his Captain status during the Indian Wars.[6]
  • If Robert was truly born in 1689 and his mother Mary Walker was born in 1630 then it does not seem possible that she had him at the age of 55.

Is there a reliable source for the name suffix "Sr." that shows he was referred to by this suffix during his life? If not, it should be removed.

Did Robert and Mourning Adams have two daughters named ANNE? One born in 1712 and the other born about 1725? Is Anne the Younger referred to in her father's will the one born in 1725?. Why is "Anne" born in 1712 not mentioned in her father's will? Did she die before him? Or is this a mix-up?

I see that most Ancestry member tree list the parents for this Robert Adams who married Mourning Lewis as William Eugene Adams 1668-1727 and Anne Skitt 1663-1730. I have yet to find the document on which they are basing this claim. Anyone have any ideas about this?

Note: in the land records of Goochland Co, VA. in the year 1730, Thomas Evans is noted to be living near Mr. Womack. In the same records, in the year 1737 John Evans is said to be living near Robert Adams, Thomas Randolph, and Mr. Womack. This would place both John Evans and Thomas Evans in the same place which is on Tuckahoe Creek, Goochland Co, VA.

The Thomas Randolph who was neighbor to both John Evans and Thomas Evans is the profile of wiki/Randolph-123. He was born 1682 and died at Tuckahoe 1729. Thomas Randolph had been born on Turkey Island, in Henrico Co VA, the same place that Robert Evans is listed at in 1679.

Robert Adams (wiki/Adams-1322) was born about 1680-1689 and died 1740. In the very same Goochland Co VA land deeds as mentioned above, John Evans and Thomas Evans lived adjacent to this Robert Adams in the 1730-1737 time frame, along with the other neighbors mentioned above.
