Biography
Burial:
Place: Liberty Corners, Portage County, Wisconsin, USA
Note: Per Ruth White Barden: Jonathan Adams (father to Jessie Adams Barden) carried "Old Abe" - a live eagle, (evidently some kind of symbol to urge troops on to bravery) - in the Civil War. I was told "Old Abe" is now mounted in the Capital building in Madison, Wisconsin.
Uncle Albert Gehrke confirmed data regarding birth, death, etc. from Veteran's Administration. Discharged September 16, 1865
Note: From marriage certificate: "I hereby certify that Jonathan Adams and Mary Jilson, both of the twon of Buena Vista, County of Portage, State of Wisconsin were united by me in marriage on this 11th day of August 1868. Both parties being examined on oath and no legal objection being found thereto
Done at Almond Portage County Wis August 11th 1868." Signed by G.H. Guernsey, Justice of the Peace
