William was born in Ireland, (believe Down, Northern Ireland), in May of 1835. He immigrated to the United States in 1847 aboard the ship "Glenmore", out of Belfast. The ship docked on February 9, 1847 in New York, New York, United States. The final destination listed on the manifest was Philadelphia. The family settled in the Kensington section of Philadelphia. In 1863, William married Margaret (Margueretta) Clifford. The couple had eight children, all born in Philadelphia. William passed away in 1912, and is buried in Greenwood Cemetery, Philadelphia.[1]
