John HUFF (c 1773 NC - 1842 Stokes Co, NC) may have been a Quaker associate rather than an active member of that faith. He lived in Stokes and Guilford counties of NC and had 15 known ch by two wives. He was clearly son of Daniel and Ann (PIKE) HUFF of Stokes Co, NC.
About 1793, prob. in Guilford Co, NC, John md (1) Charity ADAMSON (c 1778 Orange Co, NC - c 1828 Stokes Co, NC), dau of Jesse and Mary (WELLS) ADAMSON of NC and Wilson Co, TN. [1]
There has been confusion regarding Charity's maiden name as Adamson vs. Adams. This seems to be resolved in the list of children by Dr. Granville Hough [2] whereby he names a son William Adams (1808-1868) and notes that William Adams was named for William ADAMS, a prominent Quaker of the same community as the family.
Jesse ADAMSON mentioned his dau Charity HUFF in his 1825 will in Wilson Co, TN. It is clear that ch born before 1828 were hers.
1794 Stokes Co, NC. On 19 May, John Huff and wife Charity sold to Joseph McPherson 9 acres and 86 perches on the Middle Fork of Muddy Creek, this being part of the Daniel Huff estate.
