Biography

John Adamson was born in 1812, the son of Martha and James. He had seven sons and five daughters with Elizabeth ( Betty ) Ann. He died on 13 July 1889 having lived a long life of 77 years, and was buried in Armagh.

He was the head of the Ballydougan School in Ireland.

John seems to have educated his sons well and James b. 1844 became a doctor and worked at Hetton Le Hole in England where he can be seen on the internet doctoring miners. He married Jane Sarah Dunn of Loughton Le Spring and had at least 4 kids. John's son Robert m. a Margaret and died at 22, John George married Frances Bell and was a JP and doctor. They seemed to have moved to Belfast and had 2 kids.

John Adamson was the brother Robert Adamson. John is buried at Newmills Presbyterian Cemetery with his parents, James and Martha and wife Betty Ann and a few siblings. Brother Robert is in a grave next to him John was head of the Ballydougan school in Co. Down. Thomas Lowry Adamson's obituary mentioned Rev. Henry in NZ as a brother.
