Charlotte was born about 1874 in Paddington, London. She was baptised at St Mary, Paddington Green, in January 1874[1].
In 1891 Charlotte had left school and was working as a laundress. She continued to take laundry after her marriage to William Blackman. Charlotte's sister Jane was a witness at the marriage. The other witness was Arthur Robert Spearman.
According to the 1911 census, Charlotte had given birth to ten children during the course of her marriage of which only 5 were living at that time. She was still taking in laundry at that time, giving her occupation as "ironer".
