Message: I also am a direct descendant of John Wesley Aday, My grandfather was his youngest son Marcus Lafayette Aday (from his second marriage to Mary Ann Sanders). Did you ever get the story of the alleged murder of John Wesley? My grandfather told me the tale. He said that his father was found where he had seemingly fallen off a wagon load of corn and struck his head then been run over by the wagon. But they ( he and his siblings) believed that he was ambushed hit in the head and it was made to look like an accident. I can't remember who it was he said did it, but if your interested I'm sure my father would know.

Subject: [Aday-Family] John Wesley Aday
Dede,
My grandfather passed in 1979. He lived in Farmersville, CA from the 1940's on. And yes I've known Dorothy Bridges all my life. My parents lived in Califonia for years and years, so they all visited back and forth. She and Dillard were familiar faces. I just love her, she is so friendly and neverendingly cheerful. I got most of my Aday history from her also. My grandfather told me his father was murdered. What I remember is him telling that they were bringing in wagon loads of corn. That grandpa and someone else were minding the store (John Wesley had a general store type business on the square in Marshall, AR) when someone came in and told them John Wesley had been found dead, a wagon had rolled over him. Grandpa said prior to that a couple of men (local thugs was the impression I got) had come in to the store and just hung around until someone came with the news. It has been close to 30 years ago when he told me this so I don't recall names. He was convinced that they had knocked his father off the wagon and run over him. I don't know why he was so sure but he was. Thanks for posting the pictures. The one of John Wesley is taken out of a formal picture of him and Mary Ann Sanders that we have a copy of. But I know I had never seen the other one before. I can't wait to
show it to my father he will love it. Renee
