A general officer in Her Majesty's Army, Joseph Addison retired from the Army in 1881.[1]
In 1851 Joseph was married and recorded on the England Census as the Adjutant And Secretary Of Institution for the Royal Military Asylum For Children Of Soldiers Of The Regular Army in Chelsea, London.[2]
Lived at 4 Park rd, Richmond England in 1861 (a Lt. Col. at the time).
Was living/staying at the Lt. Governor's house in RMC Sandhurst in 1871. A Colonel. Also present nephew Thomas E K Addison (cadet b. London c. 1852) and nieces Ellen G (b. Hampstead c. 1858) and Annie C (b. Aldershot, Surrey c. 1863)[3]
Lived at The Cottage, Hartley Wintney, Yately, Southampton (as a Lieuteneant General), then Le Basset, Clarens, Vaud, Switzerland, where he died.
Left £7920 to his wife. Probate was granted to her.[4]
