Biography

When William Adkins was born on May 11, 1835, in York, South Carolina, his father, James, was 34 and his mother, Martha, was 31. He married Aletha "Letha" Bennett and they had seven children together. He then married Sarah A Adkins and they had six children together. He died on February 23, 1909, in Nauvoo, Alabama, at the age of 73, and was buried there.

My wife is a direct descendent of William and I have done a lot of research. If you check Find-a-Grave, you will see that Bennett has a son William J. Adkins that died in 1861:

I don't believe Bennett and Martha are the parents of our William M Adkins born in 1835. I have also tried to connect with Bennett's line through DNA, and I do not get any matches.
